They've Been Putting Water In Your Soap This Whole Time

Pick up a bar of commercial soap. Any bar sitting in your shower right now that came from a big box store. Flip it over and read the ingredients.
Water is almost always the second or third thing listed. Not a nourishing oil. Not a butter that's actually doing something for your skin. Water.
Here's why. Most commercial soap is made in a continuous industrial process. The soap gets milled, reconstituted, and reformed into bars, and that process needs water added back in at the end to hold everything together. It's not a scandal. It's just how mass production works at that scale.
Small batch soap makers don't work that way. We start with oils. We add lye. The oils and the lye react in a process called saponification, and what comes out the other side is soap and glycerin. No shortcuts, no reconstituting. That's why our ingredient label reads saponified oils, not water, at the top. The oils are what clean, condition, and soften your skin. That's the whole job.
Water still has a role in our soap, just not the one commercial brands give it. In our process, water is what the lye dissolves into so it can react with the oils in the first place. It's not filler. It's the thing that makes saponification possible at all. Every one of our staple bars, from Triple Butter to Zing Lemongrass Ginger, is built on that same distilled water doing that same real job.

So we asked a different question. Not "how do we get rid of water," but what if the water we already rely on could carry something extra while it does its job?
That question is where our new Tea Collection came from, launching soon and starting with Chai.
Instead of plain distilled water, we're steeping real tea directly into the water before it ever touches the lye. We're sourcing the tea from a small local company, because if we're doing this, we're doing it all the way through, not slapping a tea name on a label and calling it a day.
Here's the part that matters. Tea contains tannins, and tannins are strong enough to survive saponification. You can see it happen in real time. The lye solution turns a deep brown the moment the tea hits it, before it's ever touched an oil. That color is proof the tannins are still active. Those same tannins carry a natural toning, astringent quality on skin, the same effect you'd feel from a cool black tea bag against your skin. Same water. Same job it's always done for us. Now it's doing more.
This isn't a gimmick and it isn't a rebrand of what we already make. Our staple line isn't going anywhere. This is us pushing what a bar of handcrafted soap can actually do for the skin you have right now, the same thing we've been doing since 2013.
