Is Pumpkin Actually Good For Your Skin? Depends Which Pumpkin You Mean.

September 23, 2026 – Jennifer Peets

Pumpkin season started with a latte but it did not end there. It is now in your cold foam, your cereal, your air freshener, probably your tampons and/or condoms. At some point "pumpkin" stopped meaning an ingredient. It started taking the meaning of a scent sprayed on things that never met a pumpkin.

One thing still has it.

Does pumpkin seed oil actually do anything for skin?

The simple answer is yes. Pumpkin is rich in zinc. Zinc helps regulate oil production. It works against the assumption that adding oil to your face means more breakouts. Pumpkin seed oil does the opposite. It helps balance oily and acne-prone skin.

Is pumpkin seed oil good for mature skin?

Again, the answer is yes. It is filled with vitamin E and antioxidants that fight the free radical damage behind fine lines. It has a firming effect which is useful for mature skin. One oil with two different jobs depending on what your skin needs.

Do you still make a pumpkin soap?

No. We used to using real pumpkin purée. The fruit enzymes and alpha hydroxy acids were doing exfoliating work, not just seasonal dressing. Pumpkin was marketed everywhere you looked that by the time people got their bodies on ours, the fatigue set in, and ours didn't make it to many hands. We stopped making it.

What we did continue to make and what people keep reordering well beyond pumpkin season is our Oatmeal, Coconut Milk, and Honey soap and our Triple Butter soap. Seasonal favorites every season.
